This August, MÁS is curating an intimate space in Seattle for creation and connection between Black and Indigenous people and allies to sustain collective memory through practices of artistic expression and collective care. During this time, artists from the community will facilitate and share knowledge that strengthen us individually and collectively, allowing us to stay connected amidst the difficulties and struggles that characterize our current times and affect our Black, Indigenous, migrant, and diverse community.
The gatherings will be monthly, free, and open to the whole family. Locations and activities will be announced in advance on our social media. The first gathering will take place on Saturday, August 29, from 12 to 2 pm at Estelita Library (in Beacon Hill). And we’ll have drinks and snacks available as an in-kind donation.
Creating Poetry with Our Stories: When no one tells our stories, we become invisible: mere past, cheap labor, or a simple curiosity for others. To resist and reclaim the wisdom within our experiences, come and spend “A Little Time with MÁS”. We want to plant the seeds of our words, share our memories, and transform our lived experiences into poetry.
