The closing celebration for the fourth season of the “Conectándonos MÁS” program, the room was filled with joy, pride, and deep gratitude. The event brought together young participants, families, teachers, artists, coordinators, volunteers, and community members to celebrate the conclusion of a transformative journey.
This season, 23 youth completed the program after attending14 sessions dedicated to exploring identity, expression, and unity. Through Afro-diasporic arts, the project succeeded in sowing seeds of affirmation, reminding each of us the value of connecting with our roots and with one another.
This program would not have been possible without the collaborative effort of various key community members. We extend a very special thank you to:
The team and facilitators: The committee members, coordinating staff, volunteers, and community artists who shared their wisdom and energy to achieve every goal.
The interpreters: Ensuring all three languages in the room (Spanish, English, Portuguese) were equally present, allowing for clear communication between all involved.
Community allies: The Unión Cultural Center, for always opening their doors with such warmth, and El Centro de la Raza, for warmly hosting and supporting us for this closing celebration.
Institutional support: The City of Seattle Department of Education and Early Learning (DEEL), whose financial support through the Opportunity and Access grant made this space possible.
