Jacob Taylor-Mosquera was born in Cali, Colombia and was adopted by a North American family here in Washington State. Born in Cali, Colombia, and adopted by an American family here in Washington State, Jacob chose to reclaim Spanish and has been teaching it in public and private schools in Seattle for 12 years. Aside from helping develop the Youth program Conectándonos MÁS, Jacob was also appointed King County Commissioner for the Immigrant and Refugee Commission. His academic passion is international relations, and he holds a Master’s degree in Public Policy with an emphasis on Latin America and a certificate in Public Administration from Seattle University. He wrote a book titled “Me Conocí en Octubre” (I Met Myself in October) that deals with international adoption and identity construction. The second chapter of the book is part of the program. In his free time, Jacob travels, practices photography, and teaches Spanish at Seattle Central College.
