MÁS Abundance Committee
Role of Fundraising Committee:
The Abundance Committee is a team of thought partners to lead, develop, and guide organizational resource development strategies and implement them with collective vision and a healing-centered approach. We draw on the wisdom and knowledge of each member to create long-term, sustainable resource mobilization strategies and solutions, adapting, and learning as we move. These activities include donation campaigns, relationship-building, and community events.
Abundance Committee Community Agreements
These agreements were created by the current Abundance Committee. We view this as a living document; these are internal committee agreements that are ever-evolving.
- Center healing as we create strategies to bring resources and sustain our long-term work
- Center Blackness, art, and healing (healing our relationships with money) in the development and initiation of resource mobilization strategies
- Bring community members and voices with lived experience of Afrolatinidad to the development of a resource mobilization strategies
- Center the Black voices of the space
- Center healing our relationship with abundance
- Embrace discomfort with love and grace
- Speak your truth and respect the truths of others
- Exercise direct, kind, and respectful communication
- Rotating roles
- “Nobody’s humanity is denied”- recognizing who I am and support everyone on FundRaising committee’s humanity
- Being intentional about challenging how my own privilege and power shows up and wanting to resist. If conflict arises I want to hold myself accountable first
- Look closely at positionality around pro Blackness and how White privilege shows up in these spaces
Please note that the Abundance committee member positions are voluntary and members serve without remuneration.
By joining the MÁS Abundance Committee you have the opportunity to:
- Contribute to the success of the organization
- Bring your wisdom to, gain experience with and develop leadership skills in collective budgeting, resource mobilization, and organizing
- Actively practice equitable wealth redistribution
- Connect, support, and bring love to Black and Indigenous communities with roots in Latin America
- Expand your circle and meet people with similar values and interests
Who are we looking for?
We are looking for people who:
- Share MÁS values
- Are passionate about and deeply value Black and Indigenous arts, wisdom, and culture
- Are Black, Indigenous, a person of color, artists, LGBTQ+, and/or youth
- Are comfortable having conversations about and asking for money; want to mobilize resources for our communities
- Are interested in resisting status quo structures of fundraising and capitalist, transaction-based relationships
- Looking to heal their relationships with money
- Embrace revisioning how we interact with money
Together we can be MÁS
Before joining the Abundance Committee, please make sure the following apply to you:
- Share our values
- Be 18 years or older
- Be willing to commit 7-10 hours/month to attend monthly meetings and non-meeting work (review of meeting docs, attending MÁS events, tabling for MÁS, etc.).
- Be willing to occasionally meet with other community members and stakeholders
- Be willing to hold a 12-month renewable term

Applicants will be interviewed on a rolling basis between March and May 2024 with a start date in June 2024. We view these interviews as conversations and an opportunity to get to know each other better and gauge alignment. All information you share is confidential to the interview committee.
