Thanks to the collaboration between MÁS and Union Cultural Center (UCC), the Seattle community was able to enjoy the Puerto Rican bomba percussion workshop led by Otoqui Reyes free of charge. Between the month of September and October (2024) participants had the opportunity to learn the basics of Puerto Rican bomba not only from a musical appreciation, but from a holistic perspective in which they could listen, dance and play different instruments. A space where they were able to embody the Afrodiasporic heritage that is the bomba rhythm.
We want to share this experience with the entire community and celebrate our learning, so we invite the entire community to attend the closing of the workshop. This Sunday October 27th at UCC from 11am to 2pm. The final class will be held from 11:00 am to 12:30 pm and closing celebration starts at 12:30 pm and ends at 2:00pm. During this celebration we will share food and beverages (non-alcoholic), so we invite you to bring some food to the wheel to share.
