Writing a TRANS(altar) / Spirituality, blackness and dissidence
We are pleased to invite you to participate in this space where the objective will be to address Afro-diasporic spirituality in a broader sense than what the West has imposed as a religion.
Johan Mijail , writer and performance artist of Afro-Dominican origin, and NaniCurvy Maracumango, Afro artivist from Peru, will share and activate the space with their performative proposals that will give way to question heteronormativity, patriarchy, racism, and thus open ancient memory through recognizing the ancestry and wisdom of our grandmothers. The presence of the dissident body is part of this challenge, which also draws attention by using words, music and poetry to challenge violent nationalisms that kill and inflict pain. All this, at the same time, is a possibility where the altar emerges to reaffirm what we are through the non-binary, as a non-oppressive interpretation of our spiritual connections.
