We invite you to a community space to continue with the series of MORE Conversations for MORE Pride”
In this 3rd series of three conversations we will talk about Afro Aesthetics, as a form of resistance that seeks to highlight, make visible and claim the value and essentials of aesthetic canons linked to Afro-ancestral roots.
In this first conversation we will focus on:
Hair as one of the symbolic elements where violence is reproduced based on expectations and also as the symbol of the threat to the system
The subjectivity and identity of the Afro woman as sustenance of ancestrality, the support of the social fabric and the engine in the diaspora.
They will join us as panelists:
Rayza De La Hoz: Afroguajira, descendant of maroons, founder of the Mata’e Pelo collective and Meyby Soraya Ugueto Ponce: Afro-Venezuelan, descendant of two free black peoples in Venezuela: Curiepe and La Sabana, founder of the Trenzas Insurgente collective.
This event is FREE and open to the entire community.
