In these difficult times, in which we are going through a pandemic, and times of racial conflict, it was very necessary to sit together in a circle of peace. In a circle that each of us could express our emotions, listen to each other, express our experiences and concerns. This tradition is practiced for many years and helps the emotional, cultural and spiritual part.
Circle Reflection
Written by Barbara Mendoza
It was very exciting for me to participate in the circle of our MÁS family. In the circle I chose to call my grandfather Pancho as my ancestor, to accompany me during this session, I chose him because of the pleasant memories that were engraved in me from when I was little. Especially for his way of being, and the qualities that I was able to capture and learn from him. What was the most beautiful and great surprise for me, that my son, Pablo, in the same session chose me as his ancestor in life. Which for me was very comforting and emotional.
What this assures me is that there is a spiritual connection with our ancestors for sure and there is also follow-up, and continuation the same with the present and the future. I see it that way, because of the relationship as my grandfather was for me and in the way that I am for my son, and the way that my son describes me and refers to me.
Many thanks to Mónica Rojas and Jabalí Stewart for facilitating the Circle.
the collective poem
I do not know how I feel
We fall, we get up
We go up, we go down.
What can we do?
There is fear but there is work commitment
I’m tired. I’m tired of listening
I’m tired. I’m tired of not being heard
We must live together, without racism, without repression
I feel a lot of love, but I feel docked
We’re tired – I don’t want to listen
We are tired – they don’t want to listen to me
We are tired – of fear
How do I find an address?
I want to do but I don’t understand…
We need a stronger union.
We must show joy too
What are we going to do camera ?
