The <\/span><b>members of the <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Board are vital to <\/span><b>the <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">building and maintaining of a collective ecosystem at MAS that has the capacity to sustain t<\/span><b>he challenging work of equity and sustainability<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, <\/span><b>positive<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> organizational culture, collective structure and staff leadership development.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The power and responsibilities of <\/span><b>our <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">board of directors are shared collectively, equitably and intentionally among the members of the board. <\/span><b>We are intentional in the distribution of work<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> to guarantee the sustainability of the work of the board of directors and the organization. The board aims to support each other in their positions to maintain unity, <\/span><b>sustainability and heart of<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> the work <\/span><b>we do<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> and to focus on the community <\/span><b>we serve,<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> not on the hierarchy of power. The <\/span><b>M\u00c1S <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Board of Directors makes this possible with a model of shared leadership and collective decision-making that reflects our mission and values.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Board members <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">are actively involved in organizational governance, support for events, committees and so much more! Among other responsibilities, board members:<\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Attend monthly Board meetings (by video-conferencing)\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Foster a healthy organizational environment\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Comply with MAS\u2019s legal obligations, code of ethics, bylaws, articles, and policies\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Uphold MAS\u2019s mission, and values in their leadership and conduct\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Participate in MAS programming when possible\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Provide guidance and support to the Executive Director and Staff<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Carry out the fiduciary responsibilities of the board, such as reviewing the organization\u2019s annual financial statements.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Actively assist the organization in obtaining adequate resources and to enable it to further its mission.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<h5 style=\"text-align: center;\"><span style=\"color: #ffffff;\"><b>Please note that the Board of Directors positions are voluntary, and members serve without and our activities:<\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">LGBTQIA+: we want to include the voices of our LGBTQIA+ community because we believe in gender fluidity and we want to invite these voices to help us move the collective progress and movement towards equity.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Afro-Latino Artists: because <\/span><b>M\u00c1S<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u00a0 believes in art as a modality of healing and a path for advancement towards achieving racial equity.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Afro and Indigenous: with the intention of reaffirming the cultural and ancestral values \u200b\u200bof these communities.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Youth: because we know they are the future <\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>We want to invite the least heard voices within the dominant structures in this country and within the Latin American diaspora. <b>M\u00c1S<\/b> believes that the answers lie within communities with fewer opportunities and access. <b>M\u00c1S <\/b>believes that it is important to listen to the perspectives of other groups especially because they bring a new flavor and perspective to conversations.<\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<h5 style=\"text-align: center;\"><span style=\"color: #ffffff;\"><b>Being a member of the Movimiento Afrolatino Seattle Board is a unique opportunity to contribute to the advancement of our Black and Indigenous diaspora and care for the specific needs of our community. <\/b><\/span><\/h5>\n<h5 style=\"text-align: center;\"><span
