W<\/strong><\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">ith participants using traditional Colombian instruments or any percussion instrument participants choose to bring, such as congas, cajon, maracas, djembe, etc.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Participants do not need to have any musical experience, as there will be rhythms for all musical levels and abilities. At the end of the workshop, participants will not only be able to play these rhythms, but also to sing and dance along with them. He is the former musical director of \u201cFundacion Viva La Musica\u201d and \u201cFundacion Funmusica\u201d in Cali, Colombia where he taught Colombian folk music. He began his musical career in 1986 at the \u201cInstituto Popular de Cultura de Armenia\u201d in Quindio, Colombia. In 1990 he furthered his musical studies at Colombia\u2019s Universidad del Valle in Cali. After that, Diego began his years of journey, traveling to Bolivia, Ecuador, and Peru to learn the musical traditions and various wind instruments and South American percussion of native Andean cultures<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Since coming to Seattle in 2003, Diego has been performing at the Seattle Folklife Festival, Washington Flute Circle, University of Washington World Series, Seattle Symphony Educational Program, Seattle Rhythm Festival, Seattle Fiestas Patrias, Seattle Sea Fair, and more. Diego has received a recording grant from the King County 4Culture Special Project and \u201cQuinbaya Award\u201d from Centro Cultural Hispano Americano Organization in Washington.
